During her tenure teaching fifth grade at Garfield Elementary School, Della A. Mathews (1905 - 1998) collected photographs of her students and of the school faculty, as well as of her colleagues in the many educational organizations in which she participated. She taught for twenty-five years, retiring in 1971. Her donation to the Center consists of approximately 114 photographs. Many of the individuals in the photographs were not identified before the collection came to us, and the unidentified photographs have not been included in this online collection. Interested parties may view the full collection in person at the Local History & Genealogy Center.
