William Henry Dana founded the Dana Musical Institute in 1869. The Institute was originally located in the Second National Bank building at Market and Main Streets, Warren, but in July of 1870 the school moved to a former hotel at Park Avenue and High Street (now the Stone building). W.H. was succeeded as President of the institute by his son Lynn. B. Dana. Lynn became a pianist and educator, and later served as Vice President of the Institute. Lynn died in 1941, after arrangements had been made for the Institute to become part of Youngstown College as the Dana School of Music. This collection is comprised of photographs, and other materials from separate donations. Many are assumed to be the gift of John Turk from the research for his book The Musical Danas of Warren, Ohio.
