Sidney was born in Johnson Township on June 3, 1841 of Isiah and Miriam Mason Bartlett. He married Betsey Morey, daughter of Isaac and Betsey, born August 7, 1841, and who died January 7, 1905. He served twice as county sheriff and later worked as an auctioneer, and was a member of the Masonic lodge. At the time of his death on January 4, 1919 he lived at 15 North Vine, Warren with his daughter E. Jennie Bartlett.
