On May 31, Marie Helen Sofranik, Barbara’s husband James and other members of a local bowling league were counting the league’s funds at Sofranik’s home in Lordstown. When the tornado hit the area they took shelter under a table to protect them from falling debris. James found that when the tornado had passed all he held was the leg of the table, and the table was gone. While he survived, Marie had lost her life. Gift of Barbara Dougherty.
