The 1880 census finds James Ellis, a butcher, living in Gustavus with his wife Erminta, and their children, Mary, Charles and Henry. James was born in Kinsman, June, 1843, served as a Sergeant in the Civil War, and died May 24, 1905. Erminta or Arminta Delin was born about 1848 in Pennsylvania, and died in July, 1928 in Orwell, Ashtabula County. They are both buried in North View Cemetery, Gustavus.
