In 1878 the entire upper story of the church was  destroyed by storm, but the church was restored through the  financial efforts of the congregation.  In 1916 a new  Methodist Episcopal Church was erected at 166 North Park  Avenue, and the High Street building was converted to a  theater after its purchase by the Hippodrome Building  Company in May of 1917.},
