Charles is found in the 1880 census living in Newton, Trumbull County with his wife Appolonia, daughters Leah, Sarah and Margett, and sons Charles and Steven. He was born in Pennsylvania, and served as a Private in the 171st Regiment, Ohio Infantry (National Guard) during the Civil War. Charles is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery, Newton Falls.
