N1  - Adams was Postmaster in Warren from 1819 to 1853, and the publisher of the Western Reserve Chronicle from 1954-1865.  According to his obituary in the March 25, 1901 Warren Daily Tribune,  "During his newspaper work in Warren he first brought Jas. A. Garfield before the public for political preferment and was a close friend of the deceased president."
