In 1913 the Trumbull Steel Company opened their facility on the banks of the Mahoning River and close to the tracks of both the Pennsylvania and the Baltimore & Ohio Railroads. Employing over 1100 workers, the mill sought to be one of the largest in the world to produce both steel and tin plate products.
